Program Content Goals

The content of the programs and who your audience will be is paramount in shaping the channels goals. Profiling the audience for program content is important when shaping goals. The following are real program content goal scenarios:

Goal:  To provide the public with information about local government workings.
Solution: Cover public meetings, show government proceedings in action, i.e. a local C-SPAN.

Goal:  To inform people about local issues and create educated voters. 
Solution: Run candidate forums, discussion shows on ballot measures, and have live call-in or taped shows on controversial issues. 

Goal: To promote the City and showcase services provided to the community. 
Solution: Highlight City policies, procedures, resources, activities, services and events by producing programs covering City-sponsored cultural festivals, small business loan and licensing services, recycling centers, hazardous waste policies, infrastructure repair, bicycle path construction etc.

Goal: Promote the City to visitors, investors, and developers. 
Solution:  Produce video tours of the city, its museums and sites for resale; highlight these during national events hosted by the City such as conferences, football games etc. 

Goal: Serve underprivileged populations in the community. 
Solution: Produce programs that cover events for youth, the aged, and pregnant women.
